In November, students brought home in their folders a sheet offering ideas for ways parents can support their students’ understanding of the classroom learning experiences. The title is SLExD at Home, you can also find it here on the school web site. It gives simple ideas for ways you to incorporate math, science and social studies into activities you might already be doing.

Please look for ways you can try some of the ideas at home. We are targeting sending another set of examples home in the Spring.
The Experience Design initiative at Silver Lake is new this year and is the result from a joint effort between parents and teachers to expand our students’ learning. It’s about tying the real world and the classroom together. You can look for more info about ExD on the Silver Lake school home page.
About the CEC
The Campus Excellence Committee is made up of parents and teachers and holds a place on the PTA Executive Board. We meet monthly to coordinate on efforts that can support and improve our school environment, both physically and instructionally.
